ALB selected law firms \u201cthat are small but are already making waves, and either challenging (or with the potential to challenge) much larger law firms for their share of the work\u201d. southgate was one of only 15 law firms in Asia \u2013 and the only one in Japan \u2013 to be so honored. ALB highlighted southgate\u2019s cross-border M&amp;A and venture capital practices and its innovative approach to serving clients. ALB also described southgate as \u201ca Japanese law firm offering a counter to the traditional law firm models\u201d.
